REBUILDING FOUNDATIONS

Projects & activities that contribute towards solutions for the Zimbabwean crisis

SEEKING JUSTICE

"Access to transparent and accountable justice is the hallmark of a democratic society."

Our priorities include:

  • A return to the rule of law/law and order.

  • Justice and compensation for victims of gross human rights abuses in the agricultural sector.

  • Justice and compensation for those who have lost their homes, land and livelihoods in the agricultural sector.

  • The restoration of property rights / implementation of property rights for all.

  • Restoration of the human rights jurisdiction of the SADC Tribunal, the regional court of arbitration closed down by the SADC Heads of State in 2012

REBUILDING THE ECONOMY

Zimbabwe had the second most developed economy on the continent when the country attained independence in 1980. Today, after 43 years of independence, almost every country in Africa has overtaken Zimbabwe and the people live in gross poverty. In 2000, prior to the violent land invasions, the pillars of the economy were agriculture, commerce and industry, mining and tourism. The Mike Campbell Foundation focuses primarily on the following vital requirements for rebuilding the economy:

RESTORATION OF

AGRICULTURAL SECTOR

ENSURING LAND OWNERSHIP

The Zimbabwean farm invasions, which began in 2000, the destruction of agricultural property rights and the nationalisation of agricultural land by President Mugabe in 2004, have been disastrous for the once thriving agri-based economy.

The MCF is committed to the restoration of property rights and provision of land title (title deeds) for all.

This requires:

  • The abolition of state land ownership

  • Property rights must be restored in the commercial agricultural sector

  • Property rights must be instituted in the communal areas

  • Property rights must be instituted in the resettlement areas

  • The racially biased 2013 constitution must be amended to protect the property rights of all

  • The restoration of law and order
